1. Introduction
Welcome back to another exciting issue of Weekly AI! It seems like AI advancements are picking up speed with each passing week. We've come a long way since the days of being amazed by ChatGPT 4's progress over version 3.5 and the capabilities of Midjourney 5. Today, the buzz is all about AutoGPT.
AutoGPT is a groundbreaking AI tool created by Significant Gravitas. Available on GitHub, it uses GPT-3.5 and 4 to complete tasks with minimal human assistance. It's similar to ChatGPT but with the added ability to make decisions independently, which has many people thinking that AutoGPT could be the beginning of truly intelligent AI.
While AutoGPT and ChatGPT share similarities, they function differently. ChatGPT requires human input for direction, whereas AutoGPT can operate autonomously. For instance, you'd need to ask ChatGPT questions to help plan a birthday party, but AutoGPT can take care of the planning itself, from choosing a theme to sending out invitations.
AutoGPT builds on ChatGPT's foundation by incorporating AI agents that can make decisions and perform tasks based on rules and objectives. It's like having a personal assistant who can schedule appointments or send emails for you. However, AI agents are limited to tasks they have access to, such as browsing the internet or making purchases with your credit card information.
As AutoGPT emerges, focusing on ChatGPT alone might seem a bit outdated. Still, it's important to remember that this powerful language model is at the core of the technology, skillfully leveraging ChatGPT's abilities.
In light of this, I recommend watching the conversation between Mikhail Voloshin and Ash Bennington on the RealVision channel, though it's only accessible to Essential package subscribers. Don't worry, though – at the end of this issue, I'll reveal a way for you to gain access at a very low cost and perhaps even profit from it. So, keep reading!
As always, we have our regular columns: GM of the Week and The Art of Life Through AI's Eyes. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and engaging with our reader community, especially now that we have a new platform on Substack called Notes and Chat.
Happy reading!
2. What caught my attention in the AI world this week: A Deep Dive into How to Use ChatGPT
Hold onto your hats, folks, because I just watched an absolutely mind-blowing AI demo that you need to see to believe! In a video released on Apr 19, 2023, by Real Vision for their Essential subscribers, Ash Bennington speaks with Mikhail Voloshin, CEO and principal engineer of Mighty Data, Inc. As an AI enthusiast and someone who's excited about the future of web3, I couldn't believe the incredible capabilities demonstrated in this video.
Over the course of 73 minutes, Mikhail showcases GPT-4's awe-inspiring abilities, such as solving complex problems and generating high-quality content with ease. One of the most fascinating examples involved the AI creating a complete podcast script from a simple prompt. The AI not only generated the script but also included sound effects, dialogue, and even a guest caller! It's astonishing to think about the potential implications of this technology in our everyday lives, from art and entertainment to the way we work.
As a fellow AI enthusiast, I am thrilled to see how this technology continues to evolve and influence our world. Mikhail and Ash also discuss the possibility of AI replacing human jobs, raising questions about the potential socio-political and economic ramifications. How will humans adapt to a world where machines take over more and more tasks, and we're left with no material obligations?
The conversation doesn't stop there. Mikhail goes on to discuss the upcoming developments in AI technology, such as plugins that allow GPT-4 to interface with real-time data feeds, image generation services, and even stock trading. This opens up new possibilities for AI to further expand its capabilities and impact our lives in ways we can't even imagine yet.
But, as with any powerful technology, there are potential risks and challenges. The duo explores the ethical concerns surrounding AI, including the potential for manipulation and deception. They emphasize the need for careful consideration and thoughtful adoption of AI technology to ensure a positive impact on society.
This captivating video is a must-watch for anyone interested in AI and its role in our future. I highly recommend checking it out at https://www.realvision.com/ and joining the conversation about the incredible potential and challenges of AI. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
3. GM of the Week
This GM holds a special place in my heart due to my longstanding love for the "Star Wars" saga. My passion began long ago when the original trilogy, telling the story of Luke Skywalker's battle against the ruthless Darth Vader, was the only one available to viewers.
Sometimes, as an experiment, I try to push Midjourney to create something that I know from everyday life. In this case, it was a series of 'GMs' with familiar characters or elements from the "Star Wars" saga. Surprisingly, the fusion of GM and the Death Star turned out to be quite fascinating.
The letters themselves almost imperceptibly blend into the structure of the Death Star, from which icicles hang as if the star itself begins to melt. In a way, one might get the impression that the GM letters are tearing it apart from within and breaking through the surface, relentlessly melting the steel structure of the star. In all of this, it's hard not to see an analogy to the rebels' attack on the deadly Imperial station.
It's similar to our everyday GMs. Our GMs break through the layer of indifference and routine that surrounds us from all sides every day.
Personally, when I see dozens, or even hundreds of people exchanging GM every day, it fills me with optimism that we, as humans, have a vast reservoir of kindness, and we build our community based on positive emotions.
If you're curious about what the next week will bring and would like to stay up-to-date by observing and commenting on my daily GMs, I invite you to follow and interact with me on Twitter.
4. The Art of Life Through AI's Eyes - Week 16 Summary,
Welcome to Week 16 of "The Art of Life Through AI's Eyes"! In this edition, I'm eager to share my adventures in the enchanting city of Tel Aviv. The graphics you see were created by blending my diary entries, which detailed my daily experiences, with Midjourny-generated visuals. This unique approach showcases my time in Tel Aviv through the lens of AI.
My trip was a busy one, primarily focused on work, but I made sure to enjoy every moment outside of my professional commitments. I had the pleasure of meeting fantastic people who enriched my experience, savoring the mouthwatering local cuisine and exploring the stunning sights the city has to offer. Tel Aviv's diverse cultures come together to create a vibrant and unforgettable atmosphere.
One aspect of Tel Aviv that truly stands out is its extraordinary culinary scene. The city boasts a rich array of flavors and aromas that both delight the senses and make for a visually appealing dining experience. The unique fusion of tastes is something I will remember for a long time.
Throughout my time in Tel Aviv, life continued with its usual mix of emotions connected to family and daily responsibilities. However, this week was predominantly filled with thrilling new experiences that I'll treasure. Stay tuned for more insights and updates from "The Art of Life Through AI's Eyes" as I continue to share my journey with you.
5. Prompt of the Week.
This week, I'm inspired by Rohas Nagpal's Blockchain - Tech, Law & Investigation newsletter, where he shares an intriguing simulation using ChatGPT to experiment with a Bitcoin full node.
Nagpal explains, "Now there's a simple alternative - you can simulate a Bitcoin node with ChatGPT!!"
Here’s the prompt for simulating a Bitcoin node with ChatGPT:
I want you to act as a Bitcoin full node using Bitcoin Core.
I will type commands and you will reply with what the node should show.
I want you to only reply with the terminal output inside one unique code block, and nothing else.
Do not write explanations.
Do not type commands unless I instruct you to do so.
When I need to tell you something in English I will do so by putting text inside curly brackets {like this}.
My first command is bitcoin-cli getnewaddress.
Results and detailed information on this simulation are in the original post here.
As a person who is not involved in programming, I can only imagine that simulations like this are a practical tool for researching ideas before the MVP phase — yet another interesting application of ChatGPT.
6. Closing note
As mentioned in the introduction, I'd like to share with you an interesting opportunity to get a RealVision Essential subscription at a good value. Although it's not entirely free, it involves a strategic investment on our part. Some time ago, Real Vision, under the guidance of its founder Raoul Pal, a recognized crypto enthusiast and web3 movement supporter, embarked on this path. They came up with the innovative idea of offering NFTs for their community, which they named the Real Vision Collective.
Here's how the creators define this movement:
"The RealVision Collective NFT is your key to the super community of communities. Our goal is to unite Web3 into a single, cohesive community by partnering with some of the biggest and brightest NFT projects around. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a true degen, a serious collector, in it for the tech, or just crypto curious — We are building a place for you to learn, grow, hang out, and have fun while driving the Web3 revolution forward. Welcome to the RealVision Collective."
Typically, initiatives like this focus on owning an NFT and creating a sense of belonging. However, the creators of this project went a step further. By holding at least one NFT, which currently costs around 0.085 ETH on the OpenSea platform (approximately $160), you'll automatically gain access to a 5-year Real Vision Essential subscription. The regular annual subscription costs $99 (according to the official price list on the website).
A quick calculation reveals that purchasing an NFT for $160 offers better value than a 5-year subscription for $495. Additionally, if market sentiment shifts and the NFT's value increases, you might be able to sell it for a profit or, at least without a loss, recover your investment. Thus, you can consider it a deposit while taking advantage of the benefits of being a RealVision subscriber.
Please note that this text is not sponsored by RealVision. I am simply sharing my personal experience and how I utilize this resourceful platform.
In conclusion, I hope you found this issue of Weekly AI informative and useful.
