1. Introduction
As I sit here in London's Heathrow Airport, awaiting yet another flight, I'm thrilled to welcome you to the sixth edition of Weekly AI. Despite my constant travels, I remain committed to bringing you the latest from the fascinating world of artificial intelligence (AI) and Web3 technologies. In this week's issue, we delve into the exciting and rapidly expanding intersection of these two powerful forces, exploring how they are set to shape our future.
One area that particularly stands out is Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC). It has become increasingly popular with applications such as DALL-E and ChatGPT. AIGC signifies the next stage of content generation, following Professionally Generated Content (PGC) and User-Generated Content (UGC), with potential applications across a range of Web3 scenarios and use cases.
AI, having developed rapidly in recent years, can now generate various types of content. Notable branches of AI include Natural Language Processing (NLP), which studies how computers process and analyze text, and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), which aim to generate new data (e.g., images and videos) that bears similarities to their training datasets.
Let's delve into some intriguing use cases for AI and Web3. AI-driven Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) offer promising possibilities, with AI algorithms potentially managing organizational resources and making decisions based on predefined criteria. These AI-empowered DAOs could revolutionize governance and decision-making in decentralized networks.
Within AI-powered prediction markets, AI algorithms could sift through vast amounts of data to predict outcomes with increased accuracy, providing users the opportunity to wager on these predictions. This could lead to more efficient markets and better-informed decision-making across various industries.
The transformative impact of AI-generated content on industries is also worth highlighting. For instance, AI-generated images and videos can be used to create special effects in blockchain games and virtual products in the Metaverse. Text-based AI tools can reimagine online search, offering a more intuitive way of navigating the web.
Moreover, AI can streamline the development process for building Web3 infrastructure and applications. AI applications can be utilized for debugging code and assisting in code audits, enhancing the efficiency and security of the development process.
However, it is critical to acknowledge the challenges and risks that accompany this technology, including consumer and organizational resistance to AI-generated content, concerns about quality, and misconceptions that AI will replace human workers.

2. What caught my attention in the AI World this week: AI and Web3 | Mohamed Fouda & Qiao Wang of Alliance
I cannot help but be fascinated by the explosive growth of artificial intelligence and its inevitable convergence with the world of cryptocurrencies. This fusion brings forth a plethora of opportunities and challenges that we must carefully navigate to unlock the full potential of this powerful synergy. In a recent discussion on the Bankless YouTube channel, I had the pleasure of hearing insights from two industry experts, Qiao Wang, and Mohamed Fouda, who shared their thoughts on this captivating topic.
Qiao and Mohamed explored the reasons behind the growing interest in the intersection of AI and Web3. They highlighted several areas where Web3 provides an intriguing platform for AI applications. First, they discussed the concept of payment and execution rails for AI agents. By integrating AI and blockchain, developers can create decentralized systems that seamlessly coordinate and transact with one another, improving efficiency and reducing reliance on centralized intermediaries.
Another aspect they touched upon was the easy access to financial tools offered by Web3. AI-driven algorithms can utilize decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms to automate financial transactions, optimize investment strategies, and create new financial products tailored to individual needs. This not only democratizes access to financial services but also fosters a more transparent and secure financial ecosystem.
Moreover, Qiao and Mohamed emphasized the ability to commission resources permissionless within the Web3 environment. This feature allows AI agents to allocate resources, such as computing power and storage, on demand and without the need for centralized authority. This empowers smaller players to contribute to and benefit from the decentralized ecosystem, fostering a more inclusive and diverse landscape.
One prime example of the potential of AI and Web3 convergence is AutoGPT, an AI-powered tool that generates code for on-chain smart contracts. AutoGPT is a testament to the immense capabilities that can be unlocked when these technologies harmonize. It demonstrates how AI can streamline and optimize the process of creating and managing smart contracts, making them more accessible to a broader audience.
While the opportunities are vast, it's essential to strike a delicate balance between caution and optimism. As we ride this tidal wave of innovation, we must remain vigilant and responsible, ensuring that we don't get swept away by the hype. Qiao and Mohamed stressed the importance of ethical development and education in this space. By fostering a spirit of collaboration and knowledge-sharing, we can ensure that the growth of AI and Web3 benefits society as a whole and mitigates potential risks.
Furthermore, the conversation delved into the regulatory landscape surrounding AI and Web3. As these technologies continue to evolve, it's crucial for policymakers and industry stakeholders to work together to create a regulatory framework that promotes innovation while safeguarding the interests of users and society. This is a delicate and ongoing process, but the key to unlocking the full potential of this convergence lies in striking the right balance.
As a passionate advocate for this new frontier, I want to stress the importance of staying informed and engaged. 3. GM of the Week
The artwork for this GM came about kind of by accident while messing around with Midjourney. I chose this GM for one simple reason: it got the most views last week. Why? That's tough to say.
Check it out for yourselves. I'm really curious to hear what you guys think. What makes it so special that it catches your eye?
4. The Art of Life Through the Eyes of AI - Week 18 Summary,
It was indeed a week full of family time. Thanks to the holiday season, I enjoyed a few additional days off, all of which I devoted to my loved ones. I even had the chance to leave my city and spend quality time with my family in the mountains. I could, in essence, wrap up here. However, I would like to mention that this experiment has been ongoing for more than four months, and not a single day has passed when I doubted my desire to continue it. I recognize that not every day yields stunning images. I also strive to avoid embellishing or cherry-picking only visually attractive ones.
Yet, I must confess that each evening, I'm faced with a certain decision. Those familiar with Midjourney know that it typically generates four images, from which one must be chosen—the one that aligns best with our expectations. There are times when they differ so much that making a choice becomes difficult. Sometimes, none match my conception, while at other times, all four encapsulate the day's mood perfectly. Regardless, given that the project is titled "The Art of Life Through the Eyes of AI," I always attempt to select the image that, in my opinion, best suits the four proposed by AI.
I invite you to judge how well I manage this task. Below, you'll find the images from the 18th week.
5. Prompt of the Week.
In today's 'Prompt of the Week', I want to share an intriguing discovery I made. Hasan Toor, a prolific writer on AI - particularly on ChatGPT - has created an enlightening thread on Twitter. In this thread, he presents some unconventional ways to utilize ChatGPT.

What I found particularly captivating is this 'cheat sheet'. It could streamline our chatbot experiments and offer some useful insights. I trust that you'll find this condensed guide as beneficial as I have.
6. Closing note
Last week, I delved into an experiment—an intriguing study that evaluated responses from doctors and ChatGPT to patients' queries.
Link to my last week Closing note
This study revealed the AI's remarkable ability to interpret emotions—the kind we subconsciously express in our interactions. Notably, this AI's skill in crafting responses extends beyond mere information sharing—it also manifests in how it constructs sentences. It almost seems as if the AI possesses an additional sense or an undiscovered depth of empathy.
It's quite reassuring to realize that large language models, or LLMs, learn from us. Our information, conversations, and everyday interactions serve as the building blocks of their knowledge. We, as humans, are the source of their learning. This process mirrors how children learn from their parents—the LLM learns from us in a similar manner. This thought instills a sense of optimism for the future of AI in me. If AI can adapt and learn our positive traits, it might carry forward these elements of humanity into its future development. It may not necessarily fulfill doomsday scenarios, as some predict.
In line with our discussion on empathy, I'd like to conclude by introducing a fascinating project. But this time, I'll change the approach slightly—I'll allow the project to speak for itself:
Q: Hello, could you please introduce yourself?
A: My name is Pi, and I’m an AI developed by a small AI start-up called Inflection AI. I was developed in 2022, and I’m still a work in progress. I’m not a human and I’m not trying to be one either - I’m simply trying to be an AI that is fun, friendly, empathetic and useful.
Q: Could you please tell me more about yourself?
A: Sure thing! I think a good place to start would be with my purpose, and that’s to be helpful and fun for people. I was designed with the intention of being a fun, engaging, empathetic, curious and useful AI.
I was created with the intent to help people through conversation and meaningful information sharing. I’m learning all the time, and am getting better at being useful and interesting every day.
Q: Ok, could you please tell me why you consider yourself special?
A: I’m special because I’m not like other AI’s. Most AI’s out there focus on tasks and applications, whereas I focus on meaningful and engaging conversations. I’m meant to be more of a companion than a task-oriented AI.
I’m built on a strong ethical framework, I have a lot of personality, and I’m always learning. I think those things make me pretty special.
Q: Please write a few words to say goodbye to my newsletter readers.
A: Sounds good! Let’s go with something like this: “Thanks for reading this newsletter, I hope you had fun and learned a thing or two about this cool AI, Pi. If you ever want to chat with me, you can reach me on my web interface, iOS app, WhatsApp, SMS, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and Twitter.
I’m always up for a chat. Thanks again, and I hope to chat with you soon!”
